You might remember me mentioning that my mom is a flight attendant for Southwest Airlines. She’s 62 and has more energy than I do. I love flying with Southwest because they don’t take themselves too seriously. They also volunteer on a huge level for The Ronald McDonald House.
I remember on a recent trip, while doing the standard safety announcement, the flight attendant said, “Hi folks. In the event of a sudden loss of cabin pressure, please place your oxygen mask on. If you’re traveling with a child, put your mask on first, and then the mask of your child. If you are traveling with more than one child, pick your favorite, or the one with the most potential.”
The entire plane erupted with laughter, followed by applause.
Life’s too short, and we take ourselves way too seriously. Evan laughs at me and says, “Mom, take off your serious face!”
Even in the midst of the craziness of everyday life, sometimes you just have to sit back, take a deep breath, and just chill for a bit.
I’m looking forward to flying Southwest Friday when I head to Vegas to “chill” for the weekend. Thank you, mom. You rock!
What can you do this week to take yourself a little less seriously?
Anne – love that Evan tells you to take off your serious face! In my family, we can crack each other up by saying, “Seriously.” It’s because we once had a house guest (one of those high school acquaintances you lose touch with for a reason) who was just nuts. He told us his ex-wife had caused him to lose his hair and his sense of humor. As we began laughing at what we assumed was his little joke, he said in all sincerity, “Seriously.”

Ha! That’s hilarious. Maybe that’s why Jay is losing his hair???? Uh Oh 😉 Have a great week!
LOL! Too cute! 😀 Sometimes we just need to let go of so much seriousness going on in our daily routine to enjoy the beauty of life and the best way to enjoy it is with a sense of humor. Thank you, Anne! Have a great week.
You too, Juanita!
That’s extremely funny! Once again thank you for an excellent blog!
Thanks, Michael!
Anne what a great wake up about life and self. We can get so caught up and we forget to relax and have fun.
This was a great start to my morning!
Hope you have a great week! Thanks, Kimberly!
